Engaged in circular economy, clean energy and sustainable agriculture projects
Circular economy: Supporting and empowering entrepreneurs in urban slum areas and other marginalised communities in Kenya to address the environmental waste challenge in their communities and improve livelihoods through waste-oriented businesses entrepreneurship. Small-scale business owners across informal areas have been recycling and reusing waste materials to make new products since these areas existed, but there are very few resources going into supporting these businesses. Sustainable Agriculture: As Somo moves into more rural areas we plan to focus key attention on sustainable agriculture and food production. Agriculture has been a key part of the economy across East Africa but most scale farmers have had little access to the technology, financing, and other resources to grow their businesses. Clean Energy: Working with entrepreneurs creating clean energy solutions, creating both more environmentally conscious and cost-effective solutions.
